Empower Code of Conduct

Nylas is committed to creating a conference where people of every background, gender, ethnicity, religion, race, and sexual orientation feel welcome. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

Treat each other with respect and kindness, and apply the same common-sense behaviors that you would in an inclusive, professional, welcoming workplace.

Attendees violating the guidelines outlined in this document will be asked to leave the conference immediately.

Expectations for Empower attendees:

  1. Attentiveness: Our speakers have worked hard to create high-impact presentations tailored to this specific audience. If you are present in the main conference hall, please be exactly that - present. If you need to take a call or step away for work emergencies, we have established rooms on the second floor of the event space for this.
  2. Encourage conversation: Every attendee and speaker at Empower is a leader in some regard. Lead by example and actively make space in conversation for voices of traditionally marginalized groups and individuals to be heard.
  3. Intelligent debate: Debate is welcome and encouraged - but should remain professional and respectful. Debate ideas, not people.
  4. Zero-tolerance for harassment: If you see inappropriate behavior, please notify a Nylas employee immediately. We’ll have staff present at all times, but if you can’t find someone immediately please use the contact information below to alert us to the situation. 

Examples of unacceptable behavior include but are not limited to: harmful, demeaning, or derogatory language in any setting from anyone, including speakers, staff, volunteers, and attendees.  

If you are subject to or witness unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify a Nylas team member as soon as possible. The staff will be available at check-in and throughout the rest of the day. You may also call or text our Head of Operations at 415-238-2960.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Nylas has a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. Anyone found to be breaking this code of conduct may be removed from the premises immediately without refund and may not return.
