NYLAS VS AURINKO · UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

Nylas vs Aurinko: the best Aurinko alternative for email and calendar APIs in 2026

Nylas and Aurinko both give developers one API for email, calendar and contacts across Google and Microsoft accounts. Nylas adds Notetaker, Agent Accounts, a SOC 2 Type II report and a free plan. Aurinko adds a Tasks API, prebuilt CRM sync logic called BrightSync, and billing only for active accounts.

SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, with a pre-signed HIPAA BAA on paid plans Choose US (Iowa) or Europe (London) hosting per application Notetaker, Agent Accounts and hosted Scheduler on the same API Free plan for 5 connected accounts, with no credit card and no expiry

Why teams look for an Aurinko alternative

As of October 2026, teams look beyond Aurinko for three reasons: no completed SOC 2 report, no choice of data region, and no shared Google OAuth app.

No completed SOC 2 report

Aurinko’s security statement, last updated June 18, 2026, says its parent company Yoxel, Inc. is preparing for a SOC 2 Type I examination targeted for Q3 2026. It lists no ISO 27001, ISO 27701 or HIPAA report. Nylas provides a SOC 2 Type II report under NDA and holds ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certifications. No choice of data region

Aurinko’s terms say it provides its services from facilities in the United States, and its docs list no region choice. Nylas lets you pick US (Iowa) or Europe (London) when you create an application. Sources: aurinko.io/terms, Nylas data residency docs

No shared Google OAuth app

Aurinko’s FAQ says it doesn’t provide a shared verified Google OAuth application, so each customer configures and verifies its own with Google. Nylas offers a Google Shared App with the Accelerator package on Pro Annual, and on Enterprise. Sources: Aurinko Google OAuth FAQ, nylas.com/pricing

Hosted Scheduler, ready to embed

Nylas offers hosted booking pages and embeddable scheduling components on top of the Calendar API, so your team doesn’t build the booking interface or the availability logic behind it.

  • Hosted booking pages Share a Nylas-hosted page, or white-label it on eligible plans.
  • Embeddable components Drop the scheduling editor and booking components into your own app.
  • Round-robin and group meetings Spread bookings across a team or book everyone at once.
  • Availability built in Free/busy and availability across Google, Microsoft and iCloud calendars.
Real-time webhooks

Webhooks for every message, event and contact change

One webhook subscription covers email, calendar, contacts and bookings across every connected account, so your app reacts to changes without polling.

Signed notifications

Every webhook is signed with HMAC-SHA256 so you can confirm it came from Nylas.

Data in the payload

Notifications include the changed object, so most changes need no follow-up API call.

One subscription for every grant

A single endpoint receives changes from every connected account.

Configurable triggers

Subscribe only to the message, event, contact and booking changes your app needs.

What Nylas covers that Aurinko doesn’t

Three things to confirm before you choose Aurinko

Completed security reports and regions

SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, ISO 27701 and HIPAA reports, plus a choice of US or Europe (London) hosting for each application.

Notetaker and Agent Accounts

Notetaker records, transcribes and summarizes Google Meet, Teams and Zoom calls. Agent Accounts give an AI agent its own inbox and calendar.

A free plan and a shared Google app

Start free with 5 connected accounts and no expiry. The Google Shared App lets you skip setting up and verifying your own Google OAuth app.

Pricing comparison

Both charge per connected account. Aurinko starts at $1 per active account; Nylas adds a base fee with included accounts and a free plan.

Pricing checked October 14, 2026, on list prices, with no add-ons or BrightSync.

Worked example

A team connecting 500 Gmail and Outlook accounts for email and calendar pays $999 a month on Nylas Pro billed monthly ($49 with 25 accounts included, plus 475 at $2.00), or $874.25 billed annually ($43 plus 475 at $1.75). Aurinko’s billing docs put email plus calendar on the Full Platform tier at $2 per active account, or $1,000 a month for 500 active accounts. Its pricing page instead lists $1 to $2 per account depending on data transfer, which would be $500 to $1,000.

Aurinko bills only active accounts, so if 100 of the 500 sit idle, it bills for 400, or $800. Nylas bills every grant that exists during the month, including invalid ones, until it’s deleted.

Frequently asked questions

Need more help? Let’s talk!

Choose Nylas if you need ISO or HIPAA coverage, a data region choice, hosted scheduling, Notetaker or Agent Accounts. Choose Aurinko if you build a CRM or project tool and want BrightSync, a Tasks API, or Outlook and Teams add-in backends.

As of October 2026, Aurinko’s security statement says its parent company is preparing for a SOC 2 Type I examination targeted for Q3 2026, and it lists no completed report. Nylas holds SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, and provides a HIPAA report under NDA.

Aurinko lists $1 to $2 per active account per month, depending on data transfer or which APIs you use. Nylas Pro is $49 a month with 25 accounts included and $2.00 for each additional account ($1.75 with annual billing). For 500 accounts, that’s about $999 a month on Nylas against $500 to $1,000 on Aurinko. Pricing checked October 14, 2026.

BrightSync is Aurinko’s prebuilt sync logic for CRM, ATS and project tools. It syncs calendars, contacts and tasks both ways and logs email one way, once Aurinko adds a connector for your platform’s API.

Aurinko’s terms say it provides its services from facilities in the United States, and its docs list no region choice. Nylas offers US (Iowa) and Europe (London) regions, chosen per application.

Yes. Aurinko’s Tasks API covers Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do and Outlook Tasks. Nylas doesn’t offer a Tasks API; it covers email, calendar, contacts, Scheduler, Notetaker and Agent Accounts.

No. Aurinko’s FAQ says each customer sets up and verifies its own Google OAuth application. Nylas offers a Google Shared App with the Accelerator package on Pro Annual, and on Enterprise, so you can skip Google’s verification process.

Aurinko’s docs list a REST API reference and a Bubble.io plugin, but no official SDK. Nylas maintains SDKs for Node.js, Python, Ruby and Kotlin/Java.

When you build a CRM, ATS or project management platform and want sync logic you don’t write yourself. Aurinko also offers a Tasks API, backends for Outlook add-ins and Teams apps, a Direct API for native provider calls, a virtual API over CRM and ERP systems, and billing only for accounts that were active in the month.

Yes. Create a Nylas application, map each Aurinko account to a Nylas grant, and have users reconnect through Nylas hosted authentication. Plan separately for BrightSync, Tasks API calls and add-in backends, which have no Nylas equivalent; CRM sync is built with Nylas webhooks and Cookbook recipes.

Conclusion

Nylas and Aurinko both unify email, calendar and contacts. Nylas adds completed security reports, a choice of data regions, hosted scheduling, Notetaker, Agent Accounts and a free plan. Aurinko adds BrightSync, a Tasks API, add-in backends and active-account billing.

Choose Nylas if you need ISO 27001, ISO 27701 or a HIPAA BAA, want a US or Europe data region, need hosted scheduling, Notetaker or Agent Accounts, or want to start on a free plan.

Choose Aurinko if you build a CRM, ATS or project tool and want prebuilt two-way sync, need a Tasks API or Outlook and Teams add-in backends, or want to pay only for accounts that were active in the month.
